Lovely rendition of the life and times of the people of Mohenjodaro, Harappa
and it's adjoining areas. The story belongs to a time when humans had just
learnt the use of copper. Iron was yet unknown. Life then was tough yet
beautiful.
This book is a must for children in secondary level onwards. It's a story of
our early heritage and our children must be taught about it. It's a big big
story told in plain and simple language.
Request the author to write more such historical fictions. Adi can be made
into a movie too. Hope someone from the film industry reads this.
Kudos to the author for authoring such a lovely historical fiction.

“ADI: A Story of Indus Valley Civilisation”, is a typical fiction that goes
beyond time portraying the 5000 years old Harappan culture. Jitu Mishra, a
passionate archaeologist has penned beautifully that not only emphasizes the
historicity but also provides a smooth and subtle reading to the readers.
Gayatri Mavaru, the world record holder artist for her paintings on coins
has created the art for the cover page. We are sure the books will be a
must-read for all those who love and are inquisitive about Mohenjo-Daro and
Harappa, the great ancient Indus Valley Civilisation.
Book Description
At the heart of Adi, is the author's love for ancient Indian cultures. The
meticulous research that enriches the story is tangible in the weight of the
words and sentences that speak the simple story of Adi and his journey from
a little town of Nausharo to the bustling, vibrant city of Mohenjodaro.
Delve into the rustic life of the Indus people as they manoeuvre around the
many twists and turns of life, feel the heat of the copper furnaces as you
read about the game of bitto and the festivities at the mound of the dead.
Sounds almost oxymoronish, I know, but the interplay of life and death
formed the very fabric of the life of these ancient civilisations that still
speak to us. It's delicious all the more in the case of the Indus Valley
Civilisation with its yet to be unravelled script. While we wait for someone
to crack the code of the Harappan language, we have books like Adi
whispering beautifully of the ages gone by.

wealth of Odisha from the 18th century. The book ‘Kandhamal: An Evergreen
Jewel in Highland Odisha’ is a collage of culture, history, tradition,
nature and art and craft of this untamed territory nestled in the high
mountains of the Eastern Ghats. Written in lucid language by Jitu Mishra the

This book is an architectural and cultural exploration through the
incredible Buddhist heritage of Odisha, a modern province on the eastern
coast of India. Odisha, a land of great geographical and ethnic diversity is
also an antique land. Thousands of tourists are drawn to Odisha’s golden
triangle that comprises the holy city of Shiva, Bhubaneswar, the supreme
Hindu Tirtha of Lord Jagannath, Puri and the UNESCO World Heritage site of
Konark. However, for travelers to Odisha, there is yet another triangle, the
diamond triangle that comprises ancient and medieval Buddhist architectural
jewels of Ratnagiri, Lalitgiri and Udayagiri, which has remained largely
unexplored. This book blends beautifully the myths and legends associated
with Odisha’s Buddhist heritage and the art and architecture of Buddhist
monasteries and stupas. Odisha's glorious history also contains almost 15
centuries-long rise and fall of Buddhism. Odisha is perhaps one of the few
regions where all the three branches of Buddhism, which are Hinayana,
Mahayana and Vajrayana had equal footings. Odisha is also home to the
surviving traditional Buddhists who are well-known as Maniabandha Ikat
weavers. This book unveils the lost Buddhist Heritage of Odisha through its
pictorial and legend-based narrative for the common man and immersive
travelers.

Rivers’ is a pictorial narrative for travellers seeking an immersive rural
journey in the heartland of Odisha. Nayagarh, one of the 30 revenue
districts of Odisha (one of the eastern provinces of India) is filled with
forests and mountains and bordered by River Mahanadi. Lord Jagannath’s
tribal roots are traced here. A road less travelled Nayagarh has layers of
attractions from spiritual to natural history, and from culture to
archaeological heritage. Written in lucid language by Jitu Mishra the
archaeologist and filled with anecdotes and tips for travellers the book is
a must for Cultural Tourism enthusiasts. This is the second book on the
series “Districts of Odisha” by Vidya Publishing Inc.
